and satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday"

Agapé- The Refuge

The Refuge Outreach Center became a reality in October of 2008, but it began as a vision of members from Agapé Chapel in Raynham.

In November of 2006, and after almost two years, in the Lord's timing, The Refuge, a place to minister to the homeless and hungry, and hurting of Taunton, opened it's doors.

The Refuge spun out of these verses from Isaiah.

"if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
   The LORD will guide you always;
He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.
    You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."  Isaiah 58:10-11

For our church, these verses spurned us on to action. Beyond supporting financially and praying regularly, both vitally important, these verses, and the word of God in general, calls us personally and individually to give of ourselves to reach the hungry and afflicted.

Although The Refuge is a ministry of
Agapé Chapel, we are serious when we say that we believe the kingdom of God is much bigger than any one church, any one denomination. Accordingly, we are willing to partner with any other church that proclaims salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.

 We have many ways that individuals, small groups, youth groups, and whole churches can be involved. Simply give us a call, and we would be more than happy to work with you. Even better, come on by for a cup of coffee and say hello.
